Official: Real Betis confirm deal to sign Antony

Manchester United misfit Antony has now completed a permanent transfer to Real Betis, with the Andalusian club paying €25 million to sign him.

Antony was on loan at the La Liga club Real Betis last season, and he was quite impressive for them. He produced consistent performances for the Spanish outfit, and they wanted to sign in permanently this summer.

The two clubs have finalised an agreement of around €25 million for the Brazilian attacker. He did not have a future at Manchester United, and it makes sense for the player to move on in search of regular playing time.

The former Ajax winger knows the club and the team well, and he will be able to settle quickly at Real Betis. The Brazilian winger will look to focus on his football now with his long-term future sorted. Manchester United have done well to improve the attacking unit this summer, and they needed to get rid of their fringe players. They have also parted ways with Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United needed to cut their losses

Manchester United paid a substantial amount of money for Antony when they signed him from Ajax. However, the move did not work out, and this was the right time for Manchester United to cut their losses and move on.

The player will be able to focus on his career now, and Manchester United will look to focus on their new signings now. Meanwhile, the Spanish club will be delighted to have secured his signature. He was a key player for them last season, and he helped them reach the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The reported fee for the Brazilian seems like a real bargain, and he could prove to be an asset for them in the coming seasons. The 25-year-old is very much at the peak of his powers, and he will look to play his best football for the Spanish club this season.

With the World Cup coming up next year, Antony will want to cement his place in the Brazilian national team set-up. It will be interesting to see if he can impress in La Liga. Meanwhile, Manchester United reportedly have a 50 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement.
