Official: Real Betis announce signing of star winger from Manchester United
It was predicted to go down to the wire, and indeed it has. Yet Real Betis have the signing they so desired this summer, Antonio de Triana, as he is now affectionately know. Los Verdiblancos finish the transfer window with a bang, making a move for Antony official.
Early on Monday, after a week of unconfirmed reports, denials and statements, it was reported that Betis and United had finally reached a conclusion in their negotiations. United were desperate to sign off on a permanent sale for the €95m Brazilian, while Betis could not get near their €40-50m asking price.
Terms of Betis agreement with Manchester United

According to earlier reports, the deal will be worth a maximum of €25m, €3m of which will be variables. The deal will see United retain a 50% sell-on fee though, meaning that if Betis were to sell him on at a later date for €30-50m, then United could get back what they are asking for. It is not yet clear just how much of a wage cut Antony has taken to get the deal through, or whether the Red Devils have agreed to settle on some quantity of his contract, but it seems likely that some compromise on the Brazilian’s wages will have been reached.
Antony returns to scene of happiness
Antony has admitted that he was not going through the best time at Old Trafford, but he recovered his spark last season on loan for the final six months of the season. He has penned a five-year contract with Betis, as they seek European qualification again, and potentially a run in the Copa del Rey or Europa League, having reached the Conference League final last year.

Last season Antony scored nine times and gave six assists in his 26 appearances at the Benito Villamarin, many of which were crucial for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. The Chilean will have a star in the final third to rely on.
