Nicolas Jackson set to join Bayern Munich as deal agreed again

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is set to join Bayern Munich after the two clubs reached a fresh agreement for the Senegalese international.

According to an update by Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich have once again struck a deal with Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson. Both parties have reached a fresh agreement for the move to finally go through on transfer deadline day. However, the new deal has fresh terms, including a loan fee worth €16.5 million and a possible purchage obligation clause.

Jackson’s failed Bayern move

Nicolas Jackson was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich a couple of days back. Everything was in place for the move to be made officially. The player had even travelled to Munich for his medical. However, the green light from Chelsea did not arrive, and he returned to London.

The Blues cancelled the deal at the very last moment. Following a serious injury to summer signing Liam Delap, Chelsea informed Bayern Munich that the move was off, and Jackson was asked to return to the club. However, the 24-year-old was not keen on returning to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were not convinced about him being their number nine going forward; as a result, they signed Delap and Joao Pedro in the summer. The duo’s arrival resulted in Jackson going down the pecking order.

The 24-year-old was informed about being surplus to requirements, and he was asked to find a new club. Bayern Munich emerged as a potential destination. The Bundesliga champions were looking for someone who could support and cover for Harry Kane in the final third.

The Bavarian giants had an agreement in place with Chelsea regarding an initial loan deal with a buy option. While the Blues cancelled the move at the very end and asked Jackson to return. His representatives kept pushing for a move.

Bayern agree fresh terms with Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson

With the Senegalese international still keen on leaving the West London club, Bayern Munich reignited their pursuit on deadline day, and they once again have an agreement with Chelsea.

Unlike the previous agreement, this one is a loan deal with a purchase obligation clause for 2026, as desired by the Premier League outfit. The Blues will receive a €16.5 million loan fee, and Jackson will be signing a five-year deal with Bayern, the one he previously agreed to.

Florian Plettenberg has revealed further details on the saga, and Chelsea will receive €65 million if Bayern Munich trigger the purchase obligation clause. Jackson’s contract will entail him a €14 million-a-year salary.
