Tottenham ahead of Manchester United, Crystal Palace in Conor Gallagher chase
Tottenham are reportedly leading the race for Conor Gallagher ahead of their rivals as a move back to the Premier League could be on the cards.
According to Caught Offside, Tottenham are leading the race for Conor Gallagher ahead of the final few days of the transfer window. Manchester United and Crystal Palace are also credited with an interest in the English midfielder, as Atletico Madrid could concede a sale for £45 million.
Conor Gallagher could be a hot topic in the final days of the window and around the deadline. The midfielder’s future at Atletico Madrid remains far from secure, with the Spanish giants reportedly open to sanctioning a sale if interested clubs can meet their asking price.
The report states, Atletico Madrid could demand as much as £45 million for the midfielder, as Tottenham were interested in Gallagher earlier in the window. The north Londoners had gone quiet in the pursuit of their long-term target, although they are now keeping close tabs and even leading the race should the midfielder depart the La Liga giants.
Spurs are not prepared to pay as much for the £45 million-rated La Liga midfielder, as they are reportedly preparing an offer in the region of £35-40 million. That sort of an offer might fall short of Atletico’s demands, although the two clubs could come to a middle ground if they were to engage in concrete discussions.
Gallagher is somewhat worried about regular game time in the new season after Atletico signed new midfielders. He angles for a place in next summer’s World Cup and would seek regular game time. Spurs are not alone in the race for the £45 million-rated La Liga midfielder, as Crystal Palace and Manchester United are also credited with an interest.
Conor Gallagher back in the Premier League?
Manchester United were named one of the suitors for Gallagher, and it remains to be seen whether they are serious about the £45 million-rated La Liga midfielder. The Red Devils have been in the hunt for a new midfielder, although at the moment, they might only consider a move if one of Kobbie Mainoo or Bruno Fernandes ends up leaving in the final days.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace were also linked with Gallagher, with the club reportedly looking at him on a loan deal. Atletico might prefer only a permanent transfer, and his asking price is certainly out of their range, meaning Spurs could potentially have the upper hand if they were to make a concrete move.
