Manchester United have decided to block Kobbie Mainoo exit

Manchester United have no intention of sanctioning Kobbie Mainoo’s departure, despite the player’s desire to leave on loan.

Kobbie Mainoo’s future has been a big talking point in recent weeks. Ruben Amorim’s arrival has had a significant impact on his game time, and the player seems keen on leaving Old Trafford on a temporary basis. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United continue to block the English international’s exit.

Mainoo has been a part of the United setup since his childhood days. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to the first team at the start of 2023. Former boss Erik ten Hag handed him the opportunity, and he made a sensational start to his senior career.

The 20-year-old was a regular feature in their XI under the Dutch manager. However, a lot has changed since the arrival of Ruben Amorim. He was more of a rotational option for the Portuguese manager towards the end of last season.

He seems to have gone further down the pecking order of late. He wasn’t involved in their first two league outings and was used as a second-half sub in their 3-2 win over Burnley. With his game time taking a major hit, the youngster recently handed in a transfer request.

United won’t let Mainoo leave

Mainoo wants to leave United on loan in search of regular first-team action, something Amorim cannot guarantee him at Old Trafford. With the World Cup just 12 months away, he is eager to play consistently to strengthen his chances of making Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Despite handing in a loan request and pushing for a move, United remain reluctant to let him leave. They continue to block his exit, even on a temporary basis, with Amorim convinced the 20-year-old could play a major role in his plans going forward.

With Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount both sidelined through injuries, United have no intention of sanctioning Mainoo’s departure. The Red Devils are unlikely to change their stance on deadline day, meaning that, despite his efforts, Mainoo may not get the loan move he desires.
