AS Roma make fresh attempt to sign Jadon Sancho

AS Roma are now expected to make another late attempt to lure Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, as Gian Piero Gasperini eyes a wide attacker.

According to Sport Mediaset, AS Roma have not given up on the pursuit of Jadon Sancho, with the Italians now planning another late approach. Manchester United are ready to part ways, but the winger’s enormous wages were seen as a major obstacle before, with AS Roma also considering alternatives in case a deal becomes untenable.

Jadon Sancho’s future could be one of the big talking points around deadline day, as Manchester United are eager to part ways with the winger. There have been sufficient interest in the trouble-making Manchester United flop over the course of the summer, but his wages were the major obstacle in making any move.

AS Roma were one of the interested parties, but Sancho was reluctant to make the move to the Italian capital earlier. There might have been some encouraging signs in the background that could see Roma prepare another late approach around deadline day.

Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini had wanted a wide attacker, and have earmarked plenty of options for the position. Given how much they have prioritised Sancho, the trouble-making Manchester United flop seems like one of their top targets for the role.

Sancho was also offered to Tottenham as per another report, but there are doubts whether Spurs are expected to agree on his wage demands. Roma’s late push could potentially convince Manchester United and Sancho over a switch, but with limited time, the Italians are expected to pivot if the winger continues to show reluctance over a move.

AS Roma are considering Jadon Sancho alternatives

Gasperini and Roma have a clear plan for the wide position, and they have considered alternatives should the Sancho move fail to materialise. Tottenham’s Wilson Odobert was mentioned as a target, while they have been chasing Chelsea’s Tyrique George as a key option.

Roma had reportedly made a bid for George, and he could still be a big option for the Italians, especially if Sancho does not make the move. They will need to match Chelsea’s asking price, as the heavy recruitment of new wingers has left George’s future in limbo at Stamford Bridge, and a move to Roma is still very much possible.
