AS Roma in talks to sign Federico Chiesa, wages proving an issue

Federico Chiesa may not return to Serie A in the final hours of the summer transfer window due to his wage demands, with AS Roma in talks to sign the Liverpool winger.

According to a report by Caught Offside, several Serie A clubs are inerested in signing Federico Chiesa before the summer transfer window shuts down. AC Milan, Atalanta, AS Roma, and Napoli are among the prospective suitors vying for the 27-year-old Liverpool attacker’s signature ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

However, the Genova native has high wage demands, which will likely scupper a potential exit. Meanwhile, Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur has provided more information on Chiesa, with AS Roma continuing the talks to sign him from Liverpool in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

Federico Chiesa has been a bit-part player since joining Liverpool from Juventus last summer. While the 27-year-old was a low-risk signing for the Merseyside club due to an economical price tag, he barely made his mark and could not even complete 500 minutes of game time across 14 appearances for Liverpool, managing only two goals and two assists.

However, Chiesa may feel he can turn things around at Anfield after scoring the match-winning goal against Bournemouth in Gameweek 1 of the 2025/26 season. While the Italian international has managed only 18 minutes of game time in two outings, Arne Slot has praised him for his resolve. However, AS Roma will aim to secure his services in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

Widespread reports have linked Federico Chiesa with several wide attackers, including Atalanta. The report by Caught Offside has revealed that Atalanta will not be alone in the battle for his signature, with AC Milan, AS Roma, and Napoli also vying for his signature.
