Liverpool submit £35 million bid for Marc Guehi

Arne Slot’s Liverpool have finally submitted an offer worth £35 million to sign Crystal Palace defensive mainstay Marc Guehi.

Marc Guehi’s future has been a massive talking point since the start of the transfer window. While multiple top clubs have been linked with the Crystal Palace defender, nothing concrete has happened so far. However, it seems Liverpool have finally stepped up their pursuit of the English international.

According to a report from The Athletic, the Merseyside club have finally come forward with an official proposal to sign the Palace defensive mainstay. Arne Slot’s team have put submitted an offer worth £35 million, without any add-ons, and the Eagles are yet to respond.

Guehi hasn’t looked back since joining Palace from Chelsea back in 2021. Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but he has also cemented his spot in the English national team with his consistent performances.

While quite a few clubs wanted to sign him last summer, the Eagles managed to hold onto him for another season. However, with him entering the final year of his deal, Guehi’s departure looks like a real possibility.

Despite the fact that he could leave for free in a year’s time, Palace have been reluctant to sell and have held firm on their demands, making things difficult for interested clubs.

Liverpool table an offer for Guehi

Liverpool have long admired him, viewing him as an ideal addition to strengthen their backline. With Virgil van Dijk entering the final phase of his career, they see Guehi as the perfect long-term successor to the Dutch international.

Following Jarell Quansah’s departure, signing the English international has been a top priority for the Reds. They have already submitted an offer, and it will be interesting to see if Palace give the green light to the move.

Guehi is keen on making the move to Anfield if both clubs manage to reach a common ground. Meanwhile, Palace continues to work hard to secure an ideal replacement in case of the 25-year-old’s potential departure.

While Oliver Glasner is keen on having him around, the Eagles do not want to lose him for free next summer. With Guehi unlikely to sign a new deal, there are high chances of this transfer going through. However, it will be interesting to see if £35 million will be good enough.
