Everton set to table improved bid to sign Tomas Soucek, player wants move

Everton are all set to submit a revised offer for West Ham United midfield mainstay Tomas Soucek, who is keen on making the move.

According to a report from Football Insider, Everton are closing in on the signature of Tomas Soucek, who seems very keen on joining the Merseyside club. The Toffees are all set to submit an improved offer for the West Ham United defensive midfielder.

Soucek made a name for himself at Slavia Prague before joining the Hammers at the start of 2020. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent in the following summer transfer window.

Over the years, the 30-year-old has featured in a total of 248 matches and has even contributed towards 55 goals. While he prefers playing in a holding role, Soucek is capable enough to feature in an advanced role when needed.

The veteran midfielder is still a key part of their plans, and he has two years left on his deal, but his future has been up in the air of late. Everton are keen on signing the Czech international. Their interest is driven by their manager, David Moyes, who is a massive admirer of Soucek, having worked with him at the London-based club.

The 30-year-old was an important part of Moyes’s plans, and the Scottish manager now wants to bring him to the Merseyside club. The Toffees have already tested the water with an initial offer. While the Hammers have rejected the opening bid as they do not want to weaken their midfield, there is a belief that they might accept an improved offer.

Soucek could reunite with Moyes

With just two years left on his deal, this is West Ham’s final opportunity to raise a decent fee from his sale. The East London outfit reportedly value him at £19 million. The player is pushing to make the move to Everton. He has made it clear that he wants to reunite with Moyes.

Everton are gearing up to make a revised offer as they look to secure his services before Monday’s cut-off. Following Abdoulaye Doucoure’s departure, signing the 30-year-old is a top priority for the Merseyside club. While the Hammers have been reluctant to sell, they could actually open the door for his departure, having added Southampton star Mateus Fernandes to their squad.
