Crystal Palace table bid to sign David Brooks, deal difficult

Crystal Palace will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Welsh international David Brooks from fellow Premier League club Bournemouth in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Kostas Lianos on The Sun, David Brooks is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Bournemouth winger has emerged as a target for the South London outfit.

The 2024/25 FA Cup winners have submitted a bid worth £8 million to sign the Warrington-born attacker from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window. However, the Cherries do not want to part ways with Brooks before Monday’s transfer deadline. Instead, they want to extend the experienced winger’s contract, and the two parties are in talks over a deal.

David Brook and his career so far

David Brooks has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Bournemouth from Sheffield United in July 2018. Born in England, the 28-year-old represented the country in age-group football before choosing Wales as his national side. Meanwhile, the player battled health issues before scripting a remarkable comeback to the game.

Meanwhile, the Welsh international has established a foothold in Andoni Iraola’s team again after a loan spell with Southampton in the second half of the 2023/24 season. Brooks has made 150 appearances thus far for Bournemouth while chipping in with 22 goals and 18 assists. Meanwhile, the player’s stock in the market is high, with Crystal Palace keen on signing him in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Crystal Palace’s interest in David Brooks is understandable. The Eagles are scouring the market for a versatile playmaker in the final days of the summer transfer window despite completing the deal for Yeremy Pino. With Eberechi Eze leaving a gaping hole in the offensive unit, Crystal Palace must sign another attacker.

Several candidates, including Bilal El Khannouss, have emerged on Crystal Palace’s radar, with Brooks also emerging as a viable target. The 2024/25 FA Cup winners have wasted no time in launching a bid to sign the English-born attacker, submitting an offer worth £8 million to Bournemouth.

However, the Cherries do not want to part ways with the 28-year-old Welsh international, and they are instead eager to tie him to a new contract. Talks between the two parties have begun, and a summer move to Crystal Palace may not materialise.
