Samuel Chukwueze closing in on joining Fulham in €24 million deal

AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze is reportedly closing in on joining Fulham in a package worth €24 million in the final days of the summer transfer window.

According to an update by Orazio Accomando, Samuel Chukwueze is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers have been keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the final days of the transfer window. So, the 26-year-old AC Milan winger has been a target for the West London outfit.

The former Villarreal winger is closing in on moving to the West London club, as they have struck an agreement with AC Milan over a fee worth €22 million plus €2 million. However, the Serie A giants have yet to finalise the structure of a summer deal with Fulham, and it may be a permanent move or a loan with a purchase obligation clause.

Samuel Chukwueze and his AC Milan woes

Samuel Chukwueze has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining AC Milan from Villarreal in July 2023. The 26-year-old struggled to remain consistent throughout his spell at the Serie A club. The player has been in and out of the starting lineup at AC Milan in the last two years, with his game time reducing with each passing month.

The Nigerian international has managed only eight goals and six assists in 70 appearances thus far for AC Milan. However, Chukwueze’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs keen on signing him. Fulham will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Fulham mulled over signing Samuel Chukwueze earlier this year before a deal failed to materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as Marco Silva has demanded more firepower in the final third. Fulham lost Willian and Reiss Nelson when the summer transfer window opened, compelling the West London outfit to seek a solution from the market.

Several candidates, including Federico Chiesa, have emerged on Fulham’s radar. However, Chukwueze is also a viable target, with Fulham reviving the move for the 26-year-old winger. The Cottagers have wasted no time in securing a “broad agreement” over a fee worth €22 million plus €2 million.

Fulham and AC Milan remain in talks to finalise the structure of a summer deal, and it may be a permanent move or a loan with a purchase obligation. However, while the two clubs have an agreement on a fee worth €24 million, Fulham may have to wait until the weekend to secure Chukwueze’s services, with a report by Milan Live suggesting Massimiliano Allegri wants the 26-year-old Nigerian winger for Friday’s Serie A game against US Lecce.
