William Osula could leave Newcastle United this summer, Bayer Leverkusen interested
Bayer Leverkusen are keen on signing William Osula, who could leave Newcastle United before the end of the transfer window.
According to Florian Plettenberg, William Osula could end up parting ways with Newcastle United in the coming days. He could leave the Magpies just 12 months after joining them in search of a more prominent role. Bayer Leverkusen have emerged as a potential destination for the Danish youth international.
Osula came up the ranks at Sheffield United and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining the Tyneside club last summer in a deal worth £15 million.
While the Magpies decided to invest in him because of his massive potential, the move has not really worked out. In his debut campaign, the 22-year-old striker was involved in 20 matches, but he was on the pitch for just over 400 minutes.
Alexander Isak’s future remains up in the air, but even if he leaves the club, Osula is still unlikely to have enough game time under Eddie Howe. He is way down the pecking order, and Newcastle are already working hard to sign a top-quality number nine.

Since the Magpies cannot promise him regular first-team action, Osula is considering his option. He is ready to part ways with Howe’s team if the right offer comes his way. Plettenberg believes his future is one to watch out for until the transfer deadline.
With the player keen on leaving, Newcastle won’t stand in his way as long as their demands are met. There is significant interest in him from Germany. Erik ten Hag’s Bayer Leverkusen are one of the clubs that are interested in the 22-year-old.
Amidst uncertainty around Victor Boniface’s future, Osula could come in to replace the Nigerian international. While they have him on their radar, Leverkusen are yet to make a move for him. There is nothing advanced from their end, and it might depend on whether Boniface’s move to AC Milan goes through.
