Predicted Real Madrid lineup against Real Oviedo: Rodrygo misses out again; Mbappe up front
Rodrygo Goes will not start for Real Madrid again, with the away side lining up in an unchanged team against Real Oviedo on Sunday.
Real Madrid will aim to continue a solid start to the 2025/26 La Liga season when they lock horns with Real Oviedo at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium on Sunday night. Xabi Alonso has received a positive update on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Antonio Rudiger is available after serving a suspension, and the German international is in the travelling squad to take on Real Oviedo this weekend. However, Ferland, Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, and Endrick remain on the sidelines.
The main talking point after the season-opening game was Rodrygo’s exclusion, with the Brazilian international not managing a single minute of action last weekend. During his pre-match press conference, Alonso discussed Rodrygo’s situation, insisting he has spoken to the 24-year-old attacker.
The Real Madrid manager said, “From my perspective, the season and my time at the club starts now. The Club World Cup was something different, the squad we had, I knew it would be different to what we are building, so we’ve only played one game.”
“Every decision about who plays, who makes the eleven, are mine, and I make my assessments with help from the coaching staff. We consider what we think is best for each game. Of course I speak to a lot of players, and I’ve spoken to Rodrygo as well.”
Rodrygo will miss out again, with Brahim Diaz accompanying Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in the final third. Mbappe will lead the line for Real Madrid against Real Oviedo, with Brahim and Vinicius being the two wide attackers. As for the midfield unit, Arda Guler will line up alongside Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde in the middle of the park.
Thibaut Courtois is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Los Blancos lining up in a 4-3-3 formation in front of him against Real Oviedo on Sunday.
