Newcastle United in three-way battle to sign Axel Disasi

Newcastle United are part of a three-way battle for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, with Wolves and Bournemouth in the race.

According to Caught Offside, Axel Disasi has a big chance to leave Chelsea in the final days of the transfer window. Newcastle United are seen as a big contender for the French defender and part of a three-way battle alongside Bournemouth and Wolves.

Chelsea are focused on strengthening their side, with many reports still linking them to the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons. However, the caveat to the situation is that the Blues may need to trim their squad and sell some of their unwanted stars before the transfer deadline.

A host of players are yet to figure out their future away from Chelsea, including defender Axel Disasi. The Frenchman spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he had a minimal effect on proceedings despite playing plenty of minutes.

Chelsea does not view the Frenchman as part of their plans moving forward, and they will entertain bids in the region of 30 million. It might be seen as a steep price to pay by suitors for a player clearly unwanted by the Blues, and one who has not particularly impressed with his displays.

Wolves are interested in Disasi, as they are in talks with Chelsea over a move. The Midlands side certainly needs reinforcements, as Bournemouth are also in the mix for the Frenchman. The Cherries have both their starting centre-backs during the window, and may angle a move for one more personnel at the back.

Newcastle United were linked earlier with a move, as they are now part of a three-way battle for the £30 million-rated Chelsea defender. Whether they are ready to fork out as much for the wantaway Blues star remains the big question, but they are certainly interested in a move.

The Magpies do need bodies at the back as they might feel a bit short, although the requirement is not the ultimate necessity. Hence, they may play their cards right into getting a more favourable deal with Chelsea, which may come at the latter stages of the window.
