Napoli hoping to sign Rasmus Hojlund by Monday, luring him with UEFA Champions League football
Antonio Conte’s Napoli are reportedly looking to complete the signing of Manchester United outcast Rasmus Hojlund by Monday.
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are in talks to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United. The Serie A giants are hoping to complete the signing of the Danish striker by Monday.
Hojlund made a name for himself at Atalanta. On the back of his impressive rise, Manchester United forked out a significant fee to sign him back in 2023. Despite his massive potential, the 22-year-old has not really lived up to the expectations of people at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are not convinced about him being their number nine going forward, and his future has been up in the air since the start of the summer. With Manchester United signing Benjamin Sesko, the 22-year-old has gone way down the pecking order, and they have been actively looking to cash in on Rasmus Hojlund.
While AC Milan were in talks to sign him, things did not go according to plan for them, and they shifted their focus elsewhere. Meanwhile, Napoli have entered the race for the Danish international. Romelu Lukaku has picked up an injury and is expected to be out for a while.
Napoli could sign Hojlund by Monday
As a result, Antonio Conte’s team have been forced to enter the market for a new number nine. Rasmus Hojlund is quite high on their wishlist, and they have already started making moves to acquire his services.
The Serie A champions have initiated talks with both the player and the club and are hoping to get a deal done by Monday. The 22-year-old is reportedly open to joining Napoli, who are now working to secure an agreement on personal terms.
While they are yet to finalise a fee with Manchester United, they do seem to have an agreement on the structure of the deal. It is all set to be a loan deal with a buy option. The Red Devils prefer a permanent departure, but they do not mind a temporary departure, as long as there is an option to make the move permanent.
Champions League football could lure Rasmus Hojlund
As per a report from Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Napoli are prepared to raise his salary to €4.5 million net per year to convince him to make the move. The Dane is pushing for a buy obligation, and the proposed pay rise is seen as a way to secure his agreement without guaranteeing a permanent deal upfront.
Meanwhile, the report suggests they are looking to use UEFA Champions League football to lure him to the club. The Naples-based club will be playing every three days, and he could get enough game time if he chooses to make the move.
