Leeds United could have opportunity to sign Christantus Uche for a discount

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Nigerian international Christantus Uche from La Liga club Getafe in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by AS, as relayed by Sport Witness, Christantus Uche is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Getafe attacking midfielder has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.

The Azulones have been demanding around €20 million to part ways with the Owerri native in the summer transfer window. However, with Getafe not receiving any bids from Leeds United and three other Premier League-based suitors, the Spanish outfit may reduce the asking price to around €15 million.

Christantus Uche and his time at Getafe so far

Christantus Uche has established himself as one of the most promising young attacking prospects in La Liga since joining Getafe from AD Ceuta last summer. The 22-year-old hit the ground running at Coliseum Alfonso Perez, and he enjoyed a solid debut season with the Azulones in the 2024/25 campaign. That has continued this term, with the player producing an excellent performance in the opener last week.

The Nigerian attacking midfielder has scored once and provided one assist in only La Liga appearance in the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Uche’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Premier League adventure on the horizon?

Leeds United’s interest in Christantus Uche is understandable. The Whites are combing the market for a versatile and creative attacker this summer as they aim to sustain the daunting challenge of remaining in the Premier League beyond the 2025/26 season. Leeds United received a reality check this week, as Arsenal cruised to a 5-0 win over the newly promoted club on Saturday.

So, Leeds United can do with another offensive and creative presence. Several candidates have emerged on the West Yorkshire club’s radar, with Uche also a viable target. The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners are in a four-way battle to the African attacker’s signature, with Burnley, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Sunderland also interested. Meanwhile, Getafe hoped to recoup €20 million from Uche’s sale this summer, but he may be available for a discounted price.

The 22-year-old Nigerian international may be available for around €15 million, and that should be a shot in the arm for Leeds United and the other suitors. Recent reports have claimed that the Whites are well placed to sign Uche, and it will be interesting to see if they fork out €15 million to secure his services in the final days of the summer transfer window.
