Crystal Palace considering Lloyd Kelly swoop

Crystal Palace may look to sign 26-year-old English defender Lloyd Kelly from Serie A club Juventus in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Lloyd Kelly is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are keen on reinforcing their defenisve unit by signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Marc Guehi’s long-term future. So, the 26-year-old Juventus defender has emerged as a target for the South London outfit.

However, a summer move for the Englishman may not be straightforward, as the Serie A giants are “not pushing him away at this moment in time” after Igor Tudor used him regularly in the pre-season campaign. But “if the money is right”, the Bianconeri may sanction a deal.

Lloyd Kelly has endured a topsy-turvy professional career despite showing flashes of brilliance at several clubs. The 26-year-old rose in prominence rose in prominence during his spell with Bournemouth, and he served the Cherries as the club captain. However, a short spell with Newcastle United was dreadful before Juventus handed an escape route earlier this year.

The English defender initially joined Juventus on loan before completing a permanent move this summer. Kelly has turned out 19 times thus far for the Serie A club while amassing over 1,500 minutes of game time. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, with Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Crystal Palace’s interest in Lloyd Kelly is understandable. The Eagles are scouring the market for a centre-back in the final days of the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Marc Guehi’s long-term future. Recent reports have claimed that Steve Parish will push the former Chelsea prospect towards Liverpool due to the dragging contract talks between the two parties.

With Guehi in the final 12 months of his contract, the 2024/25 FA Cup winners are in a spot of bother over his long-term future.
