Everton approach Villarreal over Karl Etta Eyong move
David Moyes’s Everton have established contact as they look to acquire the services of Villarreal striker Karl Etta Eyong.
According to El Chiringuito TV, Everton have knocked on the doors of Villarreal to enquire about the availability of Karl Etta Eyong. The Toffees are keen on adding more depth and quality to their attack, and they consider him an ideal fit for their long-term plans.
Etta Eyong joined Villarreal last summer from Cadiz. Initially, he was a part of their B team and ended up making a total of 35 appearances across competitions. The 21-year-old striker contributed towards 26 goals.
While the majority of those appearances came for the B team, he did break into the first team towards the end of the season. He was involved in four first-team games and ended up bagging a goal against Girona.
The Cameroonian youth international has started the new season in fine fashion. He started their first league game and even bagged a goal. While he is now officially a part of their first team and has even bagged a goal, there is uncertainty around his future.
Skipper Gerard Moreno and Ayoze Perez are ahead of him in the pecking order, and if Villarreal cannot guarantee him regular minutes, he is willing to consider his options, and the 21-year-old does have the option of making a move to England.
Everton are making moves to sign Etta Eyong
Everton are keen on signing the young striker. Following the departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Toffees have signed Thierno Barry from Villarreal, but they seek more depth in the final third and are once again looking to raid the Yellow Submarine.
The Toffees have knocked on the doors of the Spanish club to learn about the availability of the 21-year-old striker. While the striker wants to continue at Villarreal, if they cannot promise him regular first-team action, he won’t mind making the move to the Premier League amid his links with other top-flight club.
With Beto’s future uncertain amid his links with Leeds United, Etta Eyong could have a decent role at the Merseyside club. Meanwhile, Everton could get their hands on a promising young talent who could become one of their mainstays in attack alongside Barry.
