West Ham United enter Raphael Onyedika chase

West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Africa Foot, Raphael Onyedika is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their midfield unit by signing a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the Club Brugge star has emerged as a target for the East London club.

Interestingly, the Club Brugge midfielder is also a target for AC Milan heading into the summer transfer window. However, West Ham will aim to beat the competition to his signature after contacting the Belgian club. Meanwhile, Club Brugge will demand around €24 million to part ways with the Imo native.

Who is Raphael Onyedika?

Raphael Onyedika has established himself as one of the most solid midfielders in Europe since joining Club Brugge from FC Midtjylland in August 2022. The 24-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last three years, establishing himself as a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Belgian club.

The Nigerian international has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Club Brugge while chipping in with six goals and four assists. Meanwhile, Onyedika’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. West Ham United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

London calling?

West Ham United’s interest in Raphael Onyedika is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a holding midfielder heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Guido Rodriguez’s long-term future. The Argentine international has struggled to make his mark this season, with Graham Potter telling West Ham to sell him this summer.

In addition, Carlos Soler will not complete a permanent move to West Ham United after his loan deal ends. So, West Ham must sign a new midfielder in the summer transfer window, and they have set their sights on several midfielders, including Morten Frendrup. However, Onyedika is also a viable target, with the East London club approaching Club Brugge for a summer move.

Club Brugge will demand around €24 million to part ways with the 24-year-old Nigerian international in the summer transfer window. The valuation is not excessive, and it will be interesting to see if West Ham can beat the competition to his signature, with AC Milan also keen on securing his services.
