Tottenham planning player-plus-cash deal to sign Eberechi Eze

Tottenham Hotspur may attempt to use a player as a sweetener to sign 26-year-old English playmaker Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Eberechi Eze is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their creative options in the summer transfer window and are ready to offer a player-plus-cash deal to sign the Crystal Palace playmaker. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Manchester United are also keen on signing the English international.

Eberechi Eze and his excellent spell with Crystal Palace

Eberechi Eze has seen his stock soar since joining Crystal Palace from Queens Park Rangers in August 2020. While the Englishman has endured fitness issues for parts of his spell with the South London club, he has established himself as a talismanic figure for his team, especially under Oliver Glasner.

The 26-year-old was exceptional in the 2024/25 season, amassing 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions while scoring the match-winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City. Meanwhile, Eze’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

A man in demand

The English international has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. Considering Martin Odegaard’s inconsistencies in the 2024/25 season, Mikel Arteta needs more creative options in his squad. So, the Crystal Palace playmaker is a viable target for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Eberechi Eze makes sense. The Red Devils are in a spot of bother over Bruno Fernandes’s long-term future. So, Manchester United can do with a new playmaker, with the Crystal Palace mainstay emerging as a viable target for the struggling Premier League giants.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, James Maddison has been in and out of the starting lineup in the last two seasons. So, the Lilywhites need an alternative, with Eze being an option worth considering. Recent reports have claimed that Tottenham will be ready to trigger the 26-year-old Englishman’s release clause of £68 million. However, they are considering a player-plus-cash deal to secure his services.

While the report has not mentioned that player Tottenham will offer as a makeweight to land Eze, the arrangement may be an ace up the North London club’s sleeves. So, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat Arsenal and Manchester United to the £68 million-rated English international.
