Chelsea ready to go all out to sign Rafael Leao, price an issue for Arsenal

Chelsea are ready to go all out for Rafael Leao from AC Milan this summer, as Arsenal cast doubts on their prospects of signing the Portuguese winger.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are ready to make a big statement in the Rafael Leao race as they are willing to invest big in a new left-winger. The Portuguese attacker desires an exit from AC Milan in the close season as a few key suitors are chasing his signature including the Blues, though Arsenal have cast doubts on their participation in the race.

Rafael Leao is expected to make a big move out of AC Milan in the summer, as the Premier League appears to be the likely destination. The Rossoneri have failed to qualify for any of the European competitions next season, which could see them struggle for finances. As a result, a big sale such as that of the Portuguese winger could be on the cards.

Leao still has had a decent season with 25 goals and assists to his name across all competitions. His reputation in the market has seen some notable teams being linked with a move for the attacker, as Chelsea and Arsenal being one of those. The Blues are eager to sign Leao as their new left-winger as there are doubts over the future of Jadon Sancho and Mykhailo Mudryk.

Chelsea are linked with some other prominent names across the market such as Rodrygo Goes, as Leao is also seen as an important name on their list. Hence, the Blues are willing to go all out for the AC Milan star and invest big in securing his services, as they have already had informal talks over a move.

A recent report did claim that Leao had a hefty release clause attached to his contract, with AC Milan demanding at least €130 million to sell him amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. Whether the Blues are willing to invest as much remains to be seen, with that price likely to shatter their record in the transfer market.

Arsenal have Rafael Leao price tag issues

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also in the mix for Leao, with Andrea Berta leading the chase for the Portuguese attacker. The Gunners are in the market for a new left-winger, and incidentally, they and Chelsea have few common targets, with the 25 G/A Serie A star one of those.

Arsenal are interested and made contact, though they are unwilling to pay as much as AC Milan are demanding at the moment for Leao. as per Football Insider. Hence, there are major issues with their price tag for the attacker, which could see the Gunners bow out of the race, thus paving the way for Chelsea to have a clear run at the winger.
