West Ham United ready to sell Nayef Aguerd, who wants exit
West Ham United will reportedly entertain bids to part ways with 29-year-old Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Nayef Aguerd faces an uncertain future at West Ham United heading into the summer transfer window. The Moroccan international will return to the East London club in the coming days after completing his loan spell with Real Sociedad.
However, the Kenitra native does not want to play for the Hammers after enjoying his loan spell in La Liga with Real Sociedad, even though Graham Potter wants to reintegrate him into the first-team squad. So, West Ham United will entertain bids to part ways with Aguerd in the summer transfer window.
Nayef Aguerd and his career since joining West Ham United
Nayef Aguerd has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining West Ham United from Stade Rennais in a deal worth £30 million in July 2022. The 29-year-old blew hot and cold in his first two seasons with the East London club but could not establish himself as an undisputed first-choice starter under David Moyes.
The Moroccan international was impressive during his loan spell with Real Sociedad, amassing nearly 3,000 minutes of game time across 36 appearances in all competitions. However, Aguerd’s stint with La Real is ending, and he will return to West Ham United. However, he wants to end his troublesome spell with the Premier League club in the summer transfer window.
What next?
Recent reports have claimed that Graham Potter wants to reintegrate Aguerd into the first-team squad at West Ham United. However, that has not swayed the former Rennes centre-back, who wants to depart from the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.
So, West Ham will entertain bids to part ways with the African defender in the summer transfer window. Interestingly, Aguerd is “talking to a number of clubs across Europe”, although the report does not reveal the identity of those outfits. However, a permanent move to Real Sociedad may be on the cards.
Meanwhile, recent reports have linked the 29-year-old Moroccan international with Manchester United. However, a move to Old Trafford may not be on the cards, and it will be interesting to see where Aguerd plies his trade in the 2025/26 season.
