Manchester United ready to cash in on one of Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund to make room for Liam Delap
Manchester United are ready to sell one of Joshua Zirkzee or Rasmus Hojlund to make way for a new striker such as Liam Delap.
According to Football Insider, Manchester United’s quest to sign a new striker like Liam Delap could lead to one of Joshua Zirkzee or Rasmus Hojlund being sold. The pair of current attackers have underperformed this season. So, as Ruben Amorim stamps his authority on building this squad, a new striker like the Chelsea target from Ipswich Town is seen as a priority signing ahead of the summer.
Manchester United are taking their plans forward with Ruben Amorim in charge, as the summer transfer window represents one of the most important in years. The Portuguese tactician wants to implement his style at the club and would require some key players from the market.
The Red Devils are already closing in on a move for Mathues Cunha, while they are also seeking a new striker. Rasmus Hojlund, with 10 goals in 50 games across all competition, has underwhelmed at the club, with Manchester United already thinking about selling him. There are links to former side Atalanta, and a move back to Serie A might be on the cards for the Dane in the summer.
Similarly, Joshua Zirkzee, a signing from last summer has underperformed this season. The former Bologna striker has interest from Juventus in Serie A, and he too could have the chance to make a return to Italy, where there will be more than one suitor for his services.
Hence, there is a likelihood of one of Hojlund or Zirkzee being sold in the summer, as Manchester United want to generate funds as well as make space for a new striker. Amorim might not like the idea of starting the new season with the duo as the club’s main strikers, as the team certainly needs a change in the frontline as well as someone with valid goalscoring prowess.
Manchester United favourites for Liam Delap
As for the striker search, Manchester United have reportedly stepped up interest in Viktor Gyokeres, a player that Amorim knows well from his time at Sporting CP. There are challenges in landing the Swede, who will want Champions League football, while Arsenal are reportedly the favourites to sign him in the close season.
Manchester United are confident about signing Liam Delap, as the Ipswich Town striker and Chelsea striker target, who will cost £30 million, has been their main link for the past few weeks. Chelsea are also very much in the mix to land him, although the Red Devils are the current favourites to get his signature in the summer.
