Chelsea to offer Moises Caicedo an improved deal
Chelsea are eager to reward Moises Caicedo with an improved deal that could see the midfielder increase his earnings.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea are keen to reward Moises Caicedo with a new contract as a recognition for his importance in the team as well as ward off suitors. The Ecuadorian midfielder is set to improve his earnings as a result, as the Blues have no interest in considering offers from elsewhere.
Chelsea suffered a fresh setback in their efforts to make it into the top five following their loss to direct rivals Newcastle United away from home. While they still have a chance to make it to next season’s Champions League. They are also in the Final of the Conference League as they will face Real Betis in the all-important game later this month.
One of the big reasons for Chelsea reaching this stage is the form and presence of Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian midfielder has started 39 of the 41 games he has played for the club this season across all competitions, and been sensational overall.
He signed for Chelsea from Brighton in a British record deal worth £115 million and has proved worth the money. When he arrived, Caicedo signed an eight-year deal lasting until 2031, as he’s in line with Chelsea’s policy of offering longer-term deals under their new ownership.
Al-Nassr had been considering a move for Caicedo of late, with Chelsea now considering to ward off suitors ahead of the summer. Chelsea are uninterested in selling the Ecuadorian at any rate in the summer, as they are now planning on handing him an improved contract.
Chelsea to offer new Moises Caicedo contract
Caicedo was set for talks over a new deal, as it appears the improved contract might arrive soon. The move is seen as a reward by the club to recognise Caicedo’s importance and influence in the team, as the report states the midfielder could earn 25% more than what he currently makes.
Much like recent deals for Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer, the new contract for Caicedo could come with a minor extension to the original deal. As of now, Chelsea view the Ecuadorian as a key member of their squad, and a big part of their growing project, especially as they anticipate a return to the Champions League.
