Ruben Amorim Praises Garnacho's Impact in Europa League Victory
Manchester United booked their place in the last 16 of the Europa League with a 2-0 victory over FCSB in Bucharest, ensuring they avoided the play-offs.
Garnacho’s Game-Changing Performance
United manager Ruben Amorim was full of praise for Alejandro Garnacho, who came on at half-time and transformed the match. The 20-year-old winger assisted Kobbie Mainoo’s goal, hit the post, and completed more dribbles (five) than any other player on the pitch.
"Of course, Garna has a different pace and is more like a forward, a winger," Amorim told TNT Sports. "He’s different from Chris (Christian Eriksen), who was playing in that position. He changed the game."
Garnacho’s standout display comes amid transfer speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea before the February 3 deadline.
Praise from Pundits
Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson also highlighted Garnacho’s impact:
“Last week against Rangers and tonight, Garnacho made the difference,” Robinson told BBC Radio 5 Live. "The system worked well with him drifting into that No. 10 role."
Key Win for United
Beyond the individual performances, Amorim stressed the importance of qualifying directly for the last 16, avoiding extra play-off matches.
“That is really important for us,” Amorim said. “It gives us time to train, build connections, and properly prepare for our next games.”
With two free midweeks in February, United will now shift their focus to their Premier League and FA Cup campaigns, with Garnacho proving to be a crucial player for Amorim’s evolving squad.
