Pep Guardiola Admits PSG Were Superior as Man City Face Shock Champions League Exit

Manchester City are on the brink of an early Champions League elimination after a stunning collapse against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.

Despite racing to a 2-0 lead early in the second half with goals from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland, City were undone by a scintillating PSG comeback. The French side scored four unanswered goals, securing a dramatic 4-2 victory that left the Premier League champions stunned and their European hopes hanging by a thread.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Pep Guardiola admitted that PSG were the better team on the night:

"First half we have a moment, they have moments. They were better. At 0-2, fine. We scored goals in five minutes, they scored goals in five minutes. We couldn't control the first goal, it was a bit knockout. They lift in that moment. They were better, faster, won the duels. We couldn't cope with that."

Guardiola acknowledged his side’s inability to manage the game after conceding the first goal, which allowed PSG to gain momentum and dominate the latter stages. He emphasized that City must now focus on their final group-stage match against Club Bruges, which is their last opportunity to secure qualification.

"[We] accept the defeat, the best team won. Last chance at home vs Bruges to qualify."

This latest defeat marks a difficult period for City, who are also struggling to keep pace in the Premier League title race. With the pressure mounting, Guardiola faces a critical challenge in turning his team’s fortunes around in both domestic and European competitions.

As City prepare for their decisive clash with Bruges, fans will hope the team can rediscover the resilience and quality that have made them perennial contenders under Guardiola.
