Manchester United Winger Antony Joins Real Betis on Loan

Manchester United's Brazilian winger Antony has completed a loan move to La Liga side Real Betis for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old joined United in August 2022 from Ajax in a high-profile £81.3m transfer, making him the club's second most expensive signing after Paul Pogba. Despite a promising start, Antony has struggled to justify his hefty price tag, managing 12 goals in 96 appearances for United.

This season, Antony has only scored once in the Premier League since April 2023 and has found first-team opportunities limited under current management. He has featured in just 13 of United’s 33 matches across all competitions.

Financial Details

United sources have confirmed that Real Betis will cover at least 84% of Antony's salary, which exceeds £100,000 per week. Antony remains contracted to Manchester United until 2027, leaving the door open for a potential return to Old Trafford next season.

United's Statement

"Everybody at United would like to wish Antony the best of luck for his spell in Seville," the club said in an official statement.

Bright Start, Fading Impact

Antony hit the ground running under former United manager Erik ten Hag, scoring three goals in his first three league games. However, his form has since dipped, and he has struggled to consistently impact games in England's top flight.

This loan move provides Antony with an opportunity to reignite his career and find form in La Liga while helping Real Betis push for European football. For Manchester United, it allows flexibility in their squad as they aim to refine their attacking options.
