Manchester City Sign Brazilian Defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras
Manchester City have announced the signing of 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras. Reis has penned a four-and-a-half-year deal with the reigning Premier League champions, joining the club just days after the arrival of Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov.
Excited to Work with Pep Guardiola
Reis expressed his enthusiasm about joining one of the world's top clubs and working under manager Pep Guardiola:
"I'm excited to join Manchester City, one of the biggest clubs in the world. Everyone has seen the amazing achievements in recent seasons, and I want to make my mark as we seek more trophies.
Working with Pep Guardiola is something every young player wants to do, and I know he can help me develop into the best player I can be."
Reis also noted the support he expects from City's contingent of Brazilian players, including goalkeeper Ederson and forward Savinho, as he adapts to life in Manchester.
City’s Director of Football on the Signing
Txiki Begiristain, City's director of football, praised the young defender's abilities and potential:
"Vitor Reis is one of the most promising young defenders in the world, and we're delighted to have been able to bring him here.
He is excellent on the ball and outstanding in the air—he has all the attributes needed to be one of the best.
Vitor is very young, but his quality is so high that we believe he can help us now and for a long time into the future."
Strengthening City's Defense for the Future
Reis’ signing is part of Manchester City’s long-term strategy to secure top young talent. Known for his composure on the ball and aerial ability, Reis will provide depth to Guardiola's squad as they continue to compete for trophies domestically and in Europe.
The addition of both Reis and Khusanov underscores City’s commitment to nurturing promising young defenders while maintaining their dominance in world football.
