Antony Breaks Silence on First Real Betis Goal After Manchester United Loan Transfer
Antony has spoken out following his first goal for Real Betis since completing his loan move from Manchester United during the January transfer window. Despite finding the net, the Brazilian winger admitted to mixed emotions after Betis suffered a 3-2 defeat against Celta Vigo in La Liga.
The 24-year-old, who joined United from Ajax in an £86 million deal, had struggled for form this season, making 14 appearances for the Red Devils and scoring just once—against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup last September. Since his loan switch to Betis, Antony had been seeking to rediscover his scoring touch, which finally came in Saturday's clash.
Antony's goal marked his second of the season but wasn't enough to secure victory as Betis relinquished an early lead. The defeat leaves them in 10th place in the La Liga standings. Following the game, Antony took to Instagram to share his thoughts:
"A day of many feelings. Happy with my first goal for Betis, but sad with that result, after going ahead. We deserved more, we wanted more. We will continue to work hard to get victories and correct our mistakes for the next matches!"
Antony's heartfelt message reflects his determination to make an impact during his time in Spain. While Betis covers around 84% of his salary during this loan spell, there is no clause in the agreement for a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
As the Brazilian looks to build on this milestone, he aims to regain form and confidence before returning to Old Trafford in the summer, where his future under head coach Ruben Amorim remains uncertain.
