Gladbach in talks to extend Wael Mohya’s contract
Borussia Mönchengladbach are in talks to extend Wael Mohya’s contract beyond 2028.
According to Sky Germany, the club’s management want to reward the 17-year-old’s development. In doing so, Mohya will reportedly double his salary which will see him earn around €2m per year.
Mohya has been a star of this Gladbach side in 2026/27, having featured in all nine matches across all competitions this season, while registering a goal and assist in the Foals’ Matchday 7 victory over VfB Stuttgart, their first win of the season.
Praising Mohya’s performance against Stuttgart, Head of Sport Rouven Schröder said: “The way he dribbles forward, the audacity with which he sets up the goal … Hats off! […] very happy that Wael showed what he’s capable of.”
Gladbach head coach Alexander Blessin also praised the club’s rising star. “He’s a very young guy who’s open and laughs, he doesn’t care too much about pressure,” expressed Blessin, who lauded Mohya’s attacking abilities. “His ability to relieve pressure in one-on-one situations is crucial.”
Gladbach will look to make it three straight wins when they host newly promoted Paderborn on 31 October.
