The board at La Liga giants Barcelona have already earmarked one of European football’s most exciting up-and-coming managers as their preferred long-term replacement for Hansi Flick.

This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana are keeping more than a close eye on the work being done by Cesc Fàbregas at Como.

Spaniard Fàbregas has of course long been drawing widespread praise from across the world of football. After guiding minnows Como to a surprise top-4 berth in Serie A last season, the ex-midfielder has since notched two wins from three in the Champions League.

The latest came in spectacular fashion, a 4-1 drubbing of Premier League heavyweights Manchester United this past week.

The results, though, have been only part of the story, with Fàbregas’ Como also playing some of the most attractive, attack-minded football on the continent.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of Barcelona having had their attentions piqued… As per a report from Fichajes, citing Diario Sport, amid an ongoing search for the right candidate to replace current headmaster Hansi Flick in the long-term:

‘Cesc Fàbregas is the top name being considered by FC Barcelona for the managerial position. He knows the club well and has implemented a style of play that is a great fit for Barça.’
