What Markus Krosche can bring to the table as he nears Milan move
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, via MilanNews, Markus Krösche is close to joining Milan.
The 46-year-old was initially set to arrive at San Siro in the summer, only for the move to fall through at the last moment.
Now, Krösche, having handed his resingation at Eintracht Frankfurt, is expected to reach an agreement with Milan this week and take up the role of Head of Football.
Krösche wanted Timmo Hardung, his right-hand man and sporting director, to join him at Milan, but Frankfurt are not open to letting him go.
Krösche’s arrival marks a new era for the Rossoneri. It remains to be seen whether the arrival of a head of football after the appointment of a new head coach over the summer would impact hierchial dynamics in a negative way, though Krösche did greenlight Amorim before turning down the move in the summer. Whether Gerry Cardinale steps away from the club’s day-to-day football operations after Krösche’s arrival, will also impact how much the German gets to replicate what he has managed at Eintracht Frankfurt.
And there’s certainly a lot to be liked. The financial reality of Italian football dictates the country’s clubs to be savvy, and Die Adler have firmly re-established themselves as arguably the savviest operators in the transfermarkt when it comes to consistently getting in players who punch above their weight and flippind them off for massive profit.
Randal Kolo Muani (free signing, sold to PSG for €95m), Hugo Ekitiké (signed for €35m, sold to Liverpool for €95m), Omar Marmoush (free signing, sold to Man City for €75m), Willian Pacho (€13.65m signing, sold to PSG for €40m), and Jesper Lindstrøm (€7m signing, sold to Napoli for €30 million) are some of their most notable sales under Krösche.
Krösche was at the helm when Frankfurt lifted the Europa League trophy in 2022. Now, as Milan look to clinch the Europa crown for themselves and look to return to the Serie A summit, Cardinale and the wider RedBird management will hope Krösche manages to pull off miracles for them similar to those he did during his time at Frankfurt.
