Leeds United’s Jean-Mattéo Bahoya sustains injury with France’s U21s
Jean-Mattéo Bahoya (21) is the latest victim of what has been a costly international window for France’s U21s. The Leeds United attacking midfielder joins the likes of Ethan Mbappé, Senny Mayulu, and Ewen Jaouen in sustaining an injury while away with Les Bleuets.
Mbappé and Mayulu sustained injuries during the game against Estonia at the end of last month. Both are out for several weeks, whilst Jaouen suffered a hamstring injury during Thursday’s training session.
Bahoya’s injury came from an impact in the game against Luxembourg (3-2) on Saturday night. The attacking midfielder did recover before being forced to withdraw in the 37th minute. He was replaced by Tottenham Hotspur’s Mathys Tel. Speaking post-match, France U21 manager Gérald Baticle said that he was not in a position to diagnose the injury, beyond stating that it was the ankle that was affected and that there would be further tests on the injury.
