Barcelona handed positive injury news
La Liga champions Barcelona have this week been afforded some welcome positive news on the personnel front. This comes amid confirmation that Frenkie de Jong is finally taking positive steps forward in his recovery from injury.
Midfielder De Jong is for his part yet to take to the pitch this season. Whilst his teammates in Hansi Flick’s squad have run riot in Spain and on the continent alike, the Dutchman has been forced to watch on from the sidelines.
De Jong suffered a serious knee injury at this summer’s World Cup, the extent of which was only discovered upon his return to base in Barcelona.
The former Ajax man opted against going under the knife to repair the issue, instead favouring conservative treatment.
And as alluded to above, this week, this approach on De Jong’s part finally appears to be bearing fruit. As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Frenkie de Jong has already started to touch the ball and his sensations have improved significantly in recent days. The Dutchman is working alone on the pitch at a moderate intensity and is satisfied with the evolution of his injury..
De Jong, as a result, could link back up with his Barcelona teammates in group training on the far side of the international break.
