Predicted Manchester United lineup against Fulham: Cunha, Fernandes to return in much-changed side; Baleba in contention

Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes will return to the Manchester United lineup when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Manchester United will be desperate to return to winning ways and overturn a two-game losing run when they lock horns with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening. Michael Carrick has received positive updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Samuel Luckhurst revealed on Saturday that Luke Shaw, Matthis de Ligt, and Carlos Baleba have travelled to London to join the squad to take on Fulham. Meanwhile, a report by The Sun revealed that Benjamin Sesko was not with the group when they took the train to London.

Manuel Ugarte (knee) is a long-term absentee, while Amad Diallo’s status remains uncertain as he continues to recover from an ankle complaint. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Carrick discussed whether Shaw and Baleba would be able to feature against Fulham.

The Manchester United head coach said, “There is a chance on both really. Not totally 100 per cent yet. It is really short term [with Luke], to be honest, but we’re just working towards the game. So we’ll see how he is.”

During his press conference, Carrick also lent support to Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven after the team capitulated against Brighton & Hove Albion in the EFL Cup third round earlier this week. The English tactician was adamant that he would not single out the young defensive duo.

The Manchester United boss said, “I thought they started really well actually in the game. I thought we started really well, so it’s not about them. I think they’ll learn from different experiences and they’ve done particularly well as well.”

“They’re in a good spot, two younger players that have got really good futures. So unfortunately, you go through times in football and you have some good spells and sometimes you learn a lot from the things that didn’t go so well. But I wouldn’t isolate them at all, by all means, of anything from the other night.”

Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Fulham on Sunday. The backline will feature Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Patrick Dorgu, with Shaw being a backup option on the bench.

Similarly, in the midfield, Baleba will be a backup option on the bench, with Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans pairing up in the double pivot. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no. 10 role, with Marcus Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo being the two wide attackers. Finally, Matheus Cunha will spearhead the attack, with Sesko’s availability remaining unconfirmed.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, Dorgu; Tielemans, Mainoo; Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford; Cunha
