Denis Zakaria on Monaco teammate Lamine Camara: ‘Chelsea? I told him that it was good but that it’s better here.’

Lamine Camara’s prospective move to Chelsea broke down on transfer deadline day. The Senegal international remained at AS Monaco, who pulled the plug on the deal at the final hour.

Camara has since said that he has “turned the page”, despite the Principality club’s CEO admitting that the midfielder had come to him, asking him to facilitate a move. To refocus, Camara said that he spoke with many teammates, including Zakaria, who once played at Chelsea during a season on loan. “Chelsea? I told him that it was good but that it is better here,” the Switzerland international joked in a mixed zone interview attended by Get French Football News.

Speaking after Friday night’s win over RC Lens (2-1), Zakaria continued, “I know the player and the person that he is; he is very professional. I think that [the transfer saga] has given him even more strength. He was incredible today.”
