Official | Alidu Seidu joins OGC Nice on loan from Rennes

OGC Nice have confirmed the signing of Alidu Seidu (26) on loan. The Ghanaian joins from Stade Rennais in a ‘joker’ deal.

Rules in France would permit the recruitment of the Ghana international, despite the closure of the transfer window in France on 1st September. Clubs are allowed to recruit a ‘joker’, should certain conditions be met. One of those conditions is a severe injury within the current squad. Antoine Mendy suffered an ACL injury during a draw against Le Mans earlier this month, which allowed Le Gym to dip into the market.

Seidu has joined on a straight loan deal that does not include an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign. His versatility and ability to play at RB, RWB, and CB will be valuable for Olivier Pantaloni in light of the current absences. Speaking ahead of Seidu’s move earlier on Friday, the Corsican manager said, “We did our research on him and his footballing qualities. He can play in multiple positions […] we also had excellent feedback on his mindset. Despite his young age, he can be a leader in the dressing room. We really need that.”
