Real Madrid star to drop to bench vs Atlético
A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is expected to be benched for the club’s upcoming derby showdown with city rivals Atlético.
That’s according to Marca, who highlight Yan Diomandé as the player in question.
Youngster Diomandé is for his part fresh off his finest performance in the colours of Real Madrid to date. Following his big-money summer arrival from RB Leipzig, the Ivorian was on Tuesday in from the off for the 2nd outing in succesion, on this occasion against Elche.
And en route to an eventual 3-2 Real Madrid triumph, Diomandé shone bright from his berth on the right flank, laying on the assist for the visitors’ 2nd of the clash.
As alluded to above, though, such efforts do not look set to be enough to earn for the 19-year-old another starting berth for this weekend’s Madrid Derby…
As per a report from Marca:
‘Despite being Real Madrid’s most expensive signing ever, he’s likely to start on the bench for the derby this coming Sunday at the Metropolitano.’
Brahim Díaz, instead, is the favourite to join Vinícius Jr. and Kylian Mbappé in the visitors’ frontline.
