Como goalkeeper Jean Butez shortlisted in Zinédine Zidane’s provisional France squad
Como 1907’s Jean Butez (31) is reportedly on the extended list of players selected by Zinédine Zidane for his debut as manager of the French national team, according to information from L’Équipe.
An undisputed first-choice goalkeeper in Cesc Fàbregas’s system, the Lille-born player is coming off the back of a solid season with the Lombardy-based club, keeping a clean sheet in 21 of his 44 appearances across all competitions – conceding just 35 goals.
Once again starting at the start of the 2026-27 campaign, which saw Como play their first-ever Champions League match, Butez could finally see his performances rewarded with his first call-up to the French national team.
Having come through the youth ranks at LOSC Lille, where he never had the opportunity to play a single match at professional level, the 31-year-old goalkeeper had two spells in Belgium, first at Royal Excel Mouscron and then at Royal Antwerp, before moving to Italy in the winter of 2025.
