The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona are keeping a watchful eye on the ongoing contract negotiations between Inter Milan, and defensive star Federico Dimarco.

This comes with a view to a potential future move for the Italian international.

Dimarco was for his part hotly tipped for a potential Camp Nou switch over the final weeks of this summer’s transfer window. Amid a search for reinforcements at left-back on the part of Deco and co, the 28-year-old was earmarked as a leading option.

In the end, no such deal was forthcoming, after the San Siro hierarchy rejected the potential inclusion of Alejandro Balde in the agreement.

But as alluded to above, this has not brought a definitive end to Barca’s interest… As per a report from Diario Sport, after Inter Milan kickstarted talks to improve Dimarco’s contract with the club:

‘Barça, for their part, are waiting for (the result of) these negotiations. Dimarco is a player who interests the Barça entity because of his quality and being at an interesting point of maturity in his career.’
