As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, new Inter sporting director Dario Baccin has met with Arturo Canales to discuss the future of Federico Dimarco.

The two met at the Museo del Prado in Madrid for an initial exchange before attending Inter’s Champions League opener against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu, which the Nerazzuri lost 2–1.

Dimarco has entered the final year of his contract with Inter, which fetches him a gross annual wage of €7.41 million. Inter have the option of unilaterally extending his contract by a year. Not only are they expected to do that, they are also looking to hand him a new deal that would see the 28-year-old remain at San Siro for good.

Dimarco, born in Milan and Inter through and through, led the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title last season with a record 18 assists. He is currently nursing a sprain to his left knee and missed the trip to Madrid. He is also expected to sit out the game against Udinese on Monday, with Inter looking to have him fully fit for the trip to Roma next Saturday,
