Antonio Raimondo was at the forefront again after his heroics helped Frosinone secure a key 3–2 victory over Venezia.

This marked the 22-year-old’s second brace in as many league games, having scored two against Fiorentina before sitting out his side’s Coppa Italia game against Sassuolo.

The Italy U21 international now has five goals and an assist in four appearances across all competitions. If this explosive start is anything to go by, this may finally be the season where he announces himself to Italian football.

Raimondo has returned on loan to Frosinone this season having helped them clinch relegation last term, contributing with 11 goals in 36 Serie B appearances. His previous best season in Serie B was in 2023/24 when he bagged nine goals for Ternana.

The Bologna academy graduate did make his senior debut for the Rossoblù towards the end of the 2021/22 season, but he has since had to contend with loan opportunities in the second tier.

Until now. His second season at Frosinone promises to be a coming-of-age year for the Ravenna-born striker. Earning €740,000 in wages this season, he’s contracted to Bologna until June 2028. His explosive start could also open up the pathway for him to earn a senior call-up for the Azzurri, who after a summer of disastrous attempts at rebirth are keen on bringing in young blood to the setup.

Raimondo has started making waves at a very opportune time in Italian football. If he manages to make something of this start over the course of the season, he could change the trajectory of his nascent senior career.
