New Inter director Dario Baccin will have his hands full right away, not because of the transfer market, but rather due to a few pivotal extensions. The deals of several key members of the squad run out in the next two years, Calciomercato reports.

Hakan Calhanoglu will be one of the first on the order of business, but the Nerazzurri already seem intent on playing it out and seeing how he fares from a physical standpoint. He started the campaign with a bang, scoring in both the first two tilts.

Federico Dimarco stated during a recent ceremony that he expected Inter to initiate the contract talks after his MVP-caliber season. Considering an option in his contract, a few more of his teammates shares his same expiration date, 2028.

The most relevant ones are Alessandro Bastoni and Marcus Thuram. The former was very buzzed about again, but he stayed put. The Nerazzurri will have a decision to make about the striker, considering the rise of Francesco Pio Esposito. Since he was signed for free, selling him would be highly profitable. Their stance about Calhanoglu is understandable, as his wages are high, and it’s far-fetched to think he’ll take a pay cut, but also risky. If they re-up with him early, they could flip him next summer if they are unhappy with the return on their investment. Dimarco should absolutely be rewarded, while Bastoni will have to earn it after a rollercoaster of a year. As for Thuram, it’ll depend on how much he’s asking and how consistent he is.
