FC Cologne have officially completed the signing of highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur attacker Mikey Moore on loan for the 2026/27 season. The 19-year-old joins the Bundesliga club on a straight season-long loan with no purchase option included in the agreement. Moore remains under contract with Tottenham through 2030 and is scheduled to return to North London next summer.

The confirmation ends a transfer saga that stretched across several weeks. Get German Football News previously reported that Cologne had reached an agreement in principle to bring Moore to the RheinEnergieStadion, but Tottenham initially hesitated to sanction the youngster’s departure.

Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi publicly entertained the possibility of keeping Moore after the England youth international impressed during preseason and continued to feature at the beginning of the competitive campaign. Tottenham eventually strengthened their attacking options sufficiently to release the teenager, allowing Cologne to finally complete a deal they had been working on since the beginning of August.

Cologne land one of England’s highest-rated teenagers

Moore arrives as Cologne’s 12th signing of the summer and immediately becomes one of the most valuable players in René Wagner’s squad. Transfermarkt currently values the London-born attacker at €18m, placing him behind only Said El Mala among Cologne’s current players.

Primarily developed as a left winger, Moore can operate across virtually the entire attacking line. The right-footed attacker is comfortable on either flank, can work as a No. 10 between the lines and has also been used centrally. That versatility should prove particularly useful within Wagner’s 4-2-3-1.

Said El Mala currently occupies the left side and has been handed Cologne’s No. 10 shirt, meaning Moore could initially see significant minutes either on the right or centrally behind the striker. In any event, it seems the teenage talent remains poised to log plenty of Bundesliga minutes.

Sporting director Thomas Kessler emphasized that the player’s desire to move to the Bundesliga remained clear even while Cologne waited for Tottenham’s final approval.

“We have been in close contact with him, his representatives and Tottenham for quite some time and held very good discussions about his sporting prospects,” Cologne managing director Thomas Kessler said in the club statement. “Throughout all these weeks, we repeatedly felt that he could hardly wait to finally get started with us.

“Despite his young age, Mikey already possesses remarkable maturity,” Kessler continued. “He has high technical quality, is creative and courageous in one-on-one situations and repeatedly creates danger with his dynamism and fearlessness.”

“The club showed great interest from the beginning,” Moore himself said. “The talks with those responsible were excellent. The prospect of playing Bundesliga football here and the way Cologne want to play made the decision easy for me.”
