Barcelona finally agree deal for striker signing

La Liga champions Barcelona have this weekend at long last tied up an agreement to add to the club’s ranks at centre-forward for the season ahead.

This comes amid confirmation of Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus preparing to take his talents to Catalunya’s capital.

Barcelona’s pursuit of reinforcements up top has of course dominated the Spanish media headlines across the summer to date. Following the respective departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, Deco and co. were left with little choice but to dip into the market for fresh blood.

The Blaugrana’s primary target had long come in the form of Atlético Madrid standout Julián Alvarez. After the board at the Metropolitano this week reiterated that they would simply not sell the Argentine to a direct La Liga rival, however, the Camp Nou hierarchy were forced to look elsewhere.

And as alluded to above, this weekend, this widened search has borne fruit for Hansi Flick and his team. As per a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Barcelona agree deal to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, here we go! Medical booked on Monday, Arsenal to receive €10m package plus add-ons for permanent deal.’
