Victor Munoz will make his first competitive start for Liverpool when they host Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool will be eager to clinch their first win of the 2026/27 season when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Andoni Iraola has no new injury concerns to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Apart from Joe Gomez (muscular) and Federico Chiesa (unspecified), the other players are long-term absentees. Jayden Danns is recovering from a thigh issue, while Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley have been dealing with long-term knee injuries.

Hugo Ekitike remains the most notable player, as he continues to recover from an achilles complaint. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Iraola did not provide a fitness update on any player apart from Chiesa. However, he heaped praise on Jeremy Jacquet after an impressive debut against Newcastle United last weekend.

The Liverpool head coach said, “I think overall he played very well, considering it’s his first game [and] also basically 45 minutes of pre-season. It’s true that he finished tired; we had to sub him because I was feeling the last five minutes on the pitch he was tired.”

“You can feel [it], especially with centre-backs. He’s been very confident on the ball, good without the ball and he’s very young, a new signing. For sure he will make some mistakes, we have to accept this, but he’s performing and training very well for me.”

Meanwhile, speaking about Chiesa’s injury, the Liverpool boss said, “Fede is not available. In the [pre-season] game against Como he felt something at the back and it’s a small muscle injury. He is not available.”

Alisson Becker is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The backline will feature Jeremie Frimpong, Jeremy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk, and Milos Kerkez.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch in the double pivot, with Alexis Mac Allister starting on the bench again. Florian Wirtz will reprise the no. 10 role, with Daniel Munoz and Cody Gakpo being the two wide attackers. Finally, Alexander Isak will lead the line against Nottingham Forest this weekend. So, Rio Ngumoha will be a backup option on the bench.
