Game of the week: Lille OSC v Paris Saint-Germain, Friday 19:45 (UK)
What a difference a week can make. At least that is what Paris Saint-Germain will hope as they hit the road again, this time making the short trip north to face Lille OSC. Luis Enrique’s side were held by Stade Rennais last Friday and relied on a second-half brace from Ferran Torres to salvage that point. But it is common knowledge that PSG’s pre-season was once again truncated and some rustiness was always expected. The quality of their opponent did not help, either, and it is another tough away trip to another contender for the Champions League places that awaits them tonight.
Whilst Les Parisiens are without Ousmane Dembélé, Lille are also without a key player in the form of Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who will not play until his transfer saga has been resolved. He is a big miss. Ayoubb Bouaddi has also left, but that much was anticipated in any case. LOSC have already turned the page in that sense. They showed promise on the opening gameweek under Davide Ancelotti. They beat SCO Angers 2-0 without having to truly exert themselves. This is a test of much grander proportions. Ancelotti Jr. is unproven and this will be his biggest ever test.
