FULL DRAW | Back-to-back Champions League winners PSG to face Barcelona and Manchester City in league phase
Back-to-back UEFA Champions League winners PSG have been given a tough assignment in today’s league phase draw, held tonight at Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum. Les Parisiens now know which teams they’ll be up against from September to January to kick off their quest for a Champions League threepeat, a feat that only Zinédine Zidane’s Real Madrid achieved in the modern era. PSG have been drawn to face Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
They will also host Luis Enrique’s former club, FC Barcelona, at the Parc des Princes. Last year, the Blaugranes lost at home against PSG, but Hansi Flick’s men will have a chance to get even. PSG’s home fixtures will also see them face AS Roma, Galatasaray and Bratislava. On the road, the Ligue 1 champions will travel to Aston Villa’s Villa Park, Villarreal and Como.
Lille, who were in Pot 3 of today’s draw, will host Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich and play last year’s runners-up, Arsenal, at the Emirates Stadium. Les Dogues‘ remaining fixtures are easier with home games against Real Betis, Galatasaray and Bratislava. Davide Ancelotti will play AS Roma, Bodo/Glimt and Stuttgart away from their Stade Pierre-Mauroy home.
Finally, Lens have been pitted against two major Premier League sides for the Champions League opening phase: Manchester City and Liverpool. Les Sang et Or will host the Cityzens and pay a visit to Anfield. Dino Toppmöller’s side will host Sporting CP, Bodo/Glimt and Como. They will lock horns with Brugge, RB Leipzig and Slavia Praha on foreign soil.
