Brest to extend Hugo Magnetti’s contract

He’s been one of the mainstays at Stade Brestois 29, and he’ll be sticking around Brittany a little while longer. Hugo Magnetti (28) has been with the club for eight years and will be around for at least two more, with L’Équipe reporting on Monday that he will put pen to paper on a new contract with them until 2029.

He’s been a key figure in this team’s return to the top flight of French football, with the 2026-27 season being the eighth in a row for the club in Ligue 1. Over that span, Magnetti has proven to be a dependable midfielder, with at least 30 domestic appearances over the past four seasons. His work rate, stamina, passing and tackling have proven invaluable to this side, which have been a mainstay in the French top flight.

The Marseille-born midfielder joined Stade Brestois in May of 2018 when they were still in the second tier. He scored the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League goal on September 19, 2024, as they defeated Sturm Graz of Austria 2-1 in Guingamp.
