Barcelona ‘have made the decision’ to reinforce one position over final week of the window
The board at La Liga champions Barcelona have made the definitive call to reinforce the options at the disposal of Hansi Flick in central defence over the final days of the transfer window.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
The centre-back ranks in Barca’s first-team setup were of course hit by a headline departure earlier this month. This came upon Ronald Araújo departing on a season-long loan for Premier League giants Liverpool.
In terms of senior options, this has left Hansi Flick and his staff somewhat short-staffed, leaving just Pau Cubarsí, Andreas Christensen and the converted Gerard Martín. Jules Koundé and Eric García, both now considered full-backs, can also fill in centrally when required.
It should therefore not come as a major surprise to hear of Deco and co. making the call to seek out fresh blood at the back over the days ahead.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Barca have made the firm decision to sign a left-footed centre-back. The idea is to finalise the deal soon.’
